THE BIG CATS

Growing up, I was obsessed with watching National Geographic wild, for so many reasons I could not even explain back then. I was greatly attracted to the big cats (lions, cheetahs and leopards). Looking back on those days it must have been the fierceness in their eyes and the loud baritone of their voices. I just always wondered how beautiful it will be to sight them in their natural environment and look straight into those fierce eyes.

 It was all fun and excitement whenever anybody engaged me in the related discussions until I realized that these my beautiful friends were hunted by the prominent people of my continent as symbols of power, majesty and physical prowess. Why would anyone want to kill these cats? Why would you even think of moving close to them by converting their habitat to residential houses? Why would anyone want to eat a lion? What happens after we kill all of them? I am still asking these questions till date as I still do not fully understand the reasons everyone gives. Efforts are been  made but we haven’t attained a level of sustainability, It was better some five years ago but right now I am scared for these beauties.

 I have heard so many stories of Dinosaurs and the Dodo birds,it is so unfortunate that none has been sighted in over fifty years that means they are extinct forever. So many movies have portrayed what the dinosaur’s existence was like but it is still nothing compared to having them present in this time. This is the future of the big cats if the human race continues with their exploitation and over utilization.
